The flag of Samoa was first approved from February 24, 1949 for UN Trusteeships, and unceasingly applied for the state's freedom on January 1, 1962. Samoa Flag contains of a red arena with a blue box in the canton. The blue rectangle stands the gathering Southern Cross: four great white stars and one slighter star.

The first truly national flag of Samoa seems to have been accepted on October 2, 1873. The red related bore a white cross spreading to the boundaries of the flag, as well as a white star in the top hoist corner. In the Samoan flag, white stands for purity, blue for freedom, and red for bravery. No change was made in the national flag once the country became sovereign on January 1, 1962.
