Flag of Comoros

The national Comoros Flag of the Union of the Comoros was intended in 2001 and formally accepted on January 7, 2002. It lasts to show the crescent and four stars, which is a theme that has been in use in slightly numerous forms since 1975 during the freedom movement. The Flag of Comoros has four stripes, on behalf of four islands of the nation: yellow is for Mohéli, white is for Mayotte (claimed by Comoros but administered by France), red is for Anjouan, and blue is for Grande Comore.

History of Comoros Flag

In 1963, Comoros selected a flag designed by the French heraldist. Its green contextual and its semicircular replicated the Islamic majority population, and its four white stars characterized the islands in the archipelago, which are Grande Anjouan (Nzwani), Comore (Njazidja), Mohéli (Mwali), and Mayotte. Comoros got its independence on July 6, 1975, and hoisted a new national flag. It had a red stripe at the top (for socialism) with the white stars and horseshoes in the hoist corner, bordered along the bottom edge by a green band. In 1978, a difference of the first flag was accepted. The crescent was larger and its horns confronted toward the lower fly corner of the flag; the four stars fell inside the horns of the semicircular, symbolizing Islam acceptance the nation. Again in 1992, there was another Comoros Flag produced to the people. On October 3, 1996 established yet another flag. The horns of the semicircular were again twisted, this time toward the fly finish of the flag.

Comoros Flag Meaning and Design

The Islamic imagery was reinforced by the adding of Arabic inscriptions—in the higher fly corner (“Allah”) and in the lower hoist corner (“Muhammad”). The fourth star in the flag signified a territorial claim on Mayotte, although it sustained to be under French control.
